Race information

Course description

Everyone will enjoy the tight and twisty singletrack at SIUE! This natural dirt surface is a pleasure to ride with very few rocks. Don’t worry, you will be challenged by many areas of tight trees and many roots. Passing is tight in the singletrack but don’t worry, this is a solo start event. Student athletes will be timed for ~3 miles out of the 4 mile course, with a 1 mile neutral (untimed) section. As always, ride with respect for your fellow competitors and use caution in the neutral portion of the course which is shared with spectators

Race format

Student athletes will gather in the staging area with their category. As a group, they will proceed from the Pit Zone through the neutral section of the course to the start of the timed segment (~1 mile).

Student athletes will line up in their call up order and be released every 10 seconds to complete the timed segment of the course (~3 miles).

Student athletes will complete the same number of laps as their category would for a mass start event. Once the rider completes the timed portion of the course, they will be directed to the finish line or to repeat the neutral section of the course (untimed).

For all laps, student athletes must start from a complete stop with a foot down at the timed segment start. They will be released at 10 second intervals in the order in which they arrive at the segment start for all additional laps. Student athletes are encouraged to keep progressing forward along the course. A maximum absolute time cut-off for the final lap will be enforced for all multi-lap categories.

Category placing will be determined by the total time taken to complete all timed segments.

Student athletes must start and finish their races from the Pit Zone area by passing though the timing check point under the inflatable arch on the Delyte Morris trail. Student athletes who fail to do this will not be scored.
